Promoting Spiritual Wellness Services

When we think of spiritual providers, what typically comes to mind is a minister giving spiritual guidance from the pulpit. When we think of ministries, we think of activities to carry out spiritual-related beliefs or activities such as music ministries, youth ministries, women and men’s ministries, mission work, etc. The list is extensive.

While spiritual instruction and guidance and diverse ministry work are certainly important to help us learn about our overall wellness and how to incorporate spiritual principles into our lives, the PMA was founded largely on the fact that there is a missing link in today’s spiritual work  – a deficit that has serious consequences for our physical, mental and spiritual wellness, and one that constantly feeds the ever-increasing worldwide health crisis.

Conventional medicine has over the years taken over health from the church, which has historically provided for the physical, mental and spiritual care of it's congregations. While conventional medicine is a blessing for our emergencies, the displacement of God and self-responsibility from good overall wellness shows its result in the epidemic of chronic illness we now have worldwide.

The PMA is committed to restoring this missing link in wellness by revitalizing the important scriptural teachings for good physical, mental and spiritual wellness. We believe it is time for spiritually-oriented  providers to instill these scriptural teachings into their practices to help clients address the chronic and debilitating wellness challenges from which so many are suffering largely as a result of departure from the scriptural wisdom we have been given to keep us healthy.

With over a decade and a half advancing our mission, the PMA has become the world leader in wellness ministry, in licensing of spiritual providers and in setting standards for practice.

How are PMA Practitioners Different from Other Providers?

First and foremost, PMA practitioners have taken a vow to uphold scriptural principles when interacting with clients and providing services. They share the beliefs set forth in PMA’s Constitution, they have accepted specific responsibilities in serving their clients, and they have given their solemn and binding pledge to provide services in full alignment with these stated beliefs and responsibilities.

In addition, PMA practitioners have widely diverse backgrounds, education, training and experience in conventional medicine, ministry and alternative health and wellness.

It is important to note that the wellness services you may receive from a PMA practitioner are completely separate from and not related to, approved by or dependent upon any secular federal or state governmental licensing authority or any other healthcare license the practitioner may have.

Also, it is important to understand and emphasize again that PMA licensees do not practice conventional medicine. More specifically, they do not examine, diagnose or treat, or offer to treat or cure or attempt to cure, any mental or physical disease, disorder or illness, or any physical deformity or injury; and PMA licensees do not recommend or prescribe, or recommend changing dosage or discontinuing,  any medications or pharmaceutical drugs.

In contrast, PMA practitioners obtain PMA licensing and offer doctrinal based wellness services to clients who want to take advantage of Spirirual Counseling and Associated Wellness Services.

Hallmarks of Skilled PMA Practitioners

Licensed PMA practitioners apply the principles and offer spiritual counseling and wellness to assist their clients in restoring and maintaining overall mental, physical and spiritual well-being.

  • Personalized Services. Genuinely personalized doctrinal service does not involve one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter approaches to restoration of wellness. You and your journey in life to this point in time have been unique. While your path to overall may have similarities to those struggling with the  same conditions, it is likely that your return to robust wellness will have its own unique twists and turns. Accordingly, the services you receive from PMA Practitioners will focus on your individual situation and restoring your overall wellness as a positive vitality.
  • Planning for Success. Your PMA practitioner will take the time to understand your concerns, evaluate whether his/her services are right for you and, if so, inform you about the proposed services, their projected cost, and what you can reasonably expect to gain as a client. If you choose to proceed, you and your practitioner will sign a written Agreement for Wellness Services that assures you are entering into an informed professional relationship.
