Pastoral Science and Medicine (PSM)

What is the PMA?

The Pastoral Medical Association (PMA) is an international ecclesiastical (spiritually based) assembly of health care practitioners from all areas of health care, counseling and ministry that have joined with the general public to share bible based health & wellness solutions.  We refer to this health care option as Pastoral Science and Medicine. We currently have practitioners, friends, non practitioner members and affiliates in over 20 countries and most all U.S. States.

What is Pastoral Science & Medicine (PSM)?

Even though there are multiple aspects to the the PMA mission, put simply; PSM is a mission to restore divine wisdom to health care.  PSM is developed as a ministerial approach to health that incorporates scripturally valid science with bible based natural law to assess, improve and restore good physical, mental and spiritual health. As a bible based wellness and recovery system and not a secular health care modality, PSM is a safe practice as it arises from the Holy Word and excludes science based techniques that would not be considered scripturally valid, including such secular practice as treating poor health with long term chemical medications.  The focus of PSM is not on disease and treatment of disease, but on analyzing the genesis of poor health and utilizing the natural law, inclusive of physical, mental and spiritual insights for health from scripture to bring about healing.  While respecting and utilizing scripturally valid science, PSM has its basis in the Creators law, the natural law, and not in science.

What is meant by the "Natural" law?

The natural law might be better understood as that process we think of as the "natural order of things".  It is the natural order to have good health and long life, it is not the natural order to have disease and premature death.  Much of the information we need to understand and follow the natural order is imparted to mankind through the Holy Bible, the human instruction manual, and through these words of wisdom we can learn about proper lifestyle, diet, medicines and therapies (physical and mental) to keep us healthy, happy and long-lived.  It is widely agreed today that a lifetime of poor diet, lifestyle, uncontrolled stress and toxins interfere with the natural order and lead to illness and disease.  In PSM this path to illness is defined as a “departure from natural law” and if departure lies at the root of our pain and disease - we can surmise that a return to natural law will be the cure, lest the sufferer procrastinates too long and finds his life in danger.

How is childhood immunization viewed in PSM?

Does PSM treat cancer, heart disease,
diabetes or other serious disease?

Recall from the above statements that PSM is not intended to focus on disease or treatment of disease, and avoids any techniques and substances that would interfere with the natural order.  When it comes to disease consider the following.  If your body at the cellular level is "fine tuned" and every one of your trillions of cells is humming along just the way almighty God intended for them to, and you remove any emotional, mental or spiritual impediments to healing, could you still have this condition defined as cancer, diabetes etc? 

Conventional medicine points to physical causation, or to genetics, diet and lifestyle as the primary root of disease.  Psychology points out the mental, or stress and anxiety as the root of chronic poor health and disease.  Ministers believe that the majority of disease has spiritual roots, in fact a number of high profile ministers today are experiencing instantaneous healing of many diseases with a return to scripture based prayer techniques alone.   Rather than debate whether the root of a particular disease is physical, mental or spiritual; doesn't it make sense to just evaluate and address all three?  This is exactly what the natural law of PSM is based on and the great news is that the human instruction manual (bible) tells us what to do about all three of these areas.  You might say that the holy bible is the ultimate diagnostic and treatment manual.

So are you saying that the PMA
does not support conventional medicine?

No that is not what we mean at all, in fact the majority of our practitioners are also conventionally licensed and offer state licensed services as well as private PSM services on behalf of the PMA.  Without the notable advances in conventional medicine what would we do for accidents, trauma and other emergencies? 

Conventional medicine by its very nature is “emergency medicine” and should clearly be the medicine of choice for emergencies and life threatening disease, including life threatening situations arising as a result of long term departure from the natural law.  When it comes to injury and disease conventional medicine provides that "second chance" and we believe it is "God approved".  The only problem we have with conventional medicine is the fact that it is overused, abused and infused with greed and deception.

The ever increasing crisis in health care is evidence that conventional medicine as it has evolved has actually become the #1 problem facing health.  It has become an “enabler” and millions of hospital beds are occupied needlessly by those that know not the natural law that is given to keep them healthy.  Our seniors are medicated to keep them up, our children to keep them down and the majority in between gobble chemicals to get up in the morning, another to get through the day and another to get down at night.  The result is a medicated society that runs in ignorance to emergency medicine with every emotion and every sniffle, overloading an already overburdened health care system.  Because the people know not the biblical wisdom for health and recovery, they are slave to conventional medicine for every ill, to chemo and radiation for their cancer.  These things do not restore the natural order, they sometimes save but more often destroy.  That is not to say that chemicals or radiation are always bad, it does mean that the people should be able to make an informed choice and to have that choice it must be available, they must know about it and have access to it!

There is a time and condition for both, conventional and pastoral medicine, unfortunately Almighty God’s natural law has been cast completely aside in favor of an egotistical science that believes it is mightier than the Creator and as Hosea 6:6 tells us; My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...

Are PSM services available to the general public?


In accordance with the law, the PMA is a private entity that operates under our own constitutionally protected ecclesiastical governmental structure.  PMA Rules mandate that we may only share PSM information and services with individuals that have agreed to the terms and conditions of admission into our jurisdiction.  Admission is as simple as reviewing and agreeing to our Communicant Admission Agreement (CAA), which is available from PMA commissioned and licensed practitioners, and online.  Individuals that register through the online system gain immediate access to private areas of our website where more information on PSM services and benefits is available.

As a Communicant, what kind of health care practitioners do I have access to?

Practitioners are gravitating to the PMA from all fields of health care including mental health counseling and ministry because they have come to realize that the Almighty provided better answers for chronic poor health and disease.  Health care professionals from many countries and from virtually every specialty within the medical professions as well as non-State licensed natural health professions currently hold PMA license.  The PMA has practitioners, communicates and partners in over 20 countries and most U.S. States.


To qualify for PMA commission and license practitioners must meet rigid educational standards and; 1) must hold a sincere belief that the holy bible is the instruction manual for life and is the authority on physical, mental and spiritual health; 2) must operate their respective practices in conformity with the high standards of scripture; 3) must place scriptural instruction before science in all decisions affecting their "PMA" practice or any Communicant; 4) must only utilize the natural law when applying PSM; and 5) incorporate the physical, mental and spiritual aspects in practice.

PMA practitioners provide assistance with scriptural instruction and accountability as the guiding light, are limited to practices within their scope of training, have access to up-to-date clinical references for the natural substances they utilize, including drug interaction information, and are accountable to the standards of licensure established by the PMA.  The availability of quality information and support, in conjunction with the standards set forth for PMA practitioners inspires member confidence and assures the highest quality of scriptural assistance.


If I am a health care practitioner
how do I find out about licensure?

You can get basic information here, but you must register here to access the private sections of the PMA website to learn more and to apply for Commission or License.


If I am registered as a Communicant, how can I locate a PMA commissioned or licensed practitioner?

The PMA is prohibited by jurisdictional privacy policy from providing a listing of PMA commissioned and licensed practitioners.  Generally the public locates practitioners in their own community or by referral from another practitioner or Communicant.  Communicants can also email the PMA staff for assistance.  Practitioners are permitted to promote themselves and can often be located through PMA article postings. 


What other benefits do I have as a Communicant?

More information on benefits is available in the private section that Communicants can access after registration.  The private sections are being renovated for 2012 and considerable content will be added including information on discount purchasing, laboratory testing, self help education, vaccine information and much more.

Can Pastoral Medicine make a difference for you, your family and the world?

Can it "cure" chronic illness and disease?

The obvious answer is that
"according to the Creator" YES!

Suppose that conventional medicine were to suddenly “see the light” and choose to act responsibly - stabilizing the suffering and sending them back to self responsibility, back to the natural law for healing without the basket of drugs.  This undoubtedly would impact the world positively in many ways, but where would the patient turn for learning and instruction?

Will they learn about the natural law and how to get healthy and remain that way by laying out several hundred dollars each month for the basket of supplements prescribed by the local naturopath, or from costly intravenous vitamin drips from the integrative physician?  Will these alternatives teach them self responsibility? will they be empowered? will they stop dying from lack of knowledge?

The answer is clearly NO.  The current health care options are not likely to change and as the saying goes -“if you continue to do the same things you will continue to get the same results”. We must look to other options if we are to make a difference.

Restoring pastoral based health services will not likely change the world or significantly impact the global health care crisis anytime soon.  That is going to require conventional medicine to “back off” and let the people again be empowered and going to take the churches putting His messages for health back on the pulpits.  Pastoral based care will though give the suffering a less expensive “choice” that comes with a guaranteed “cure” - by the Almighty himself.  It will serve to educate and provide scriptural resources to the millions that already place their trust in the Creator, but who have been seduced into turning from the author of health to foolishly worshiping science. This in and of itself justifies the restoration of His natural law.  Restoration of pastoral based health will also provide practitioners that are called to serve, a legal and respectable path for answering that call, without fear of governmental reprisal for as long as the constitutions of the great nations remain the guiding light and ministers are permitted to minister to the suffering!

Pastoral Science & Medicine has been restored under Freedom of Religion to the people, because scripture requires us to share our knowledge, to share love.
